At 12:01pm, Avalon 103C-4 Danny Cooper reported a structure fire on Center
Avenue in Avalon. The three-alarm fire drew assistance from Bellevue Station
108, Ben Avon Station 109, Emsworth Station 148, Kilbuck Station 182, West View
Station 297, and Fairview Station 250. Crews battled the blaze for a couple hours
before bringing it under control. No injuries were reported. The Allegheny County
Fire Marshal's Office was investigating the fire which caused at least $50,000
in damage. Preliminary reports suggest a carelessly placed cigarette in a garbage
can caused the blaze.
