Structure
Fire - Robinson Township (12/12/2002)
Fire units were dispatched to a new house under
construction in Groveton Village, Robinson Township. Two construction workers
were carrying a propane tank down a flight of stairs to the basement when they
dropped it. A massive fireball followed, quickly consuming the structure. The
two workers barely escaped with their lives - running from the building while
they too were engulfed in flames. They were extinguished by co-workers and rushed
to a Pittsburgh burn center in serious condition. Firefighters from Groveton
(Station 244), Forest Grove (Station 243), Moon Run (Station 245), Moon Township
(Station 197), Bayer Fire Department (Bayer Corporation on site fire brigade,
they respond to all working structure fires in Robinson Township during daylight
hours) and Neville Township (Station 205) battled the blaze for several hours
before bringing it under control. Firefighters did an excellent job in stopping
the fire from spreading to the exposure buildings.
Novak would like to extend special thanks to
the Moon Township Fire Company for allowing him to go up on the platform of 197
Truck 4 and take the aerial shots.
