Commercial Structure
Fire - Pleasant Hills Borough (4/27/2003)
At approximately 1:04am, Pleasant Hills Station 232, Broughton Station 270
and Pleasant Hills EMS were dispatched to a possible structure fire on Curry
Hollow Road in Pleasant Hills. While enroute to the scene, 232 C3 reported heavy
smoke visible from a distance away and requested a second alarm before even arriving
on scene. First arriving units found a fully involved combination commercial/residential
structure fire. The business at this location was a battery store which caused
additional concerns. Several Departments battled the 3 alarm blaze for hours
before bringing it under control at 5:04am. Firefighters from Library Station
271, Option Station 106, Whitehall Station 301, South Baldwin Station 104, West
Mifflin Station 295, Brentwood Station 116, Castle Shannon Station 119 and Mt.
Lebanon Station 198 also assisted. The Allegheny County Fire Marshal's Office
is investigating the suspicious blaze that is estimated at $750,000 in damage.
The DEP was also on scene due to concerns of battery acid contaminating the environment.
