Springdale Borough Station 273 was dispatched for multiple reports of a residential structure fire after it was rocked by an explosion on Moyhend Street around 7am. First arriving units found a fully engulfed residentail structure and one burn victim who had been thrown from the house. Lower Valley EMS and St. Margaret's Response Unit treated the patient who was flown by Stat MedEvac to a local burn unit. As firefighters attempted to control the blaze, crews also had to battle exposure problems with neighboring structures. Springdale Township Station 274, New Kensington #1 Station 56-1, Cheswick Station 121, Springdale Borough Police, Springdale Township Police and Cheswick Police assisted. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Crews finished cleaning up around 3:30pm.
