About Us

Penn Hills Stations 225, 221, and 227 were alerted for a possible vehicle explosion reported to be a Duquesne Light Truck in the 9700 block of Frankstown Rd. Police units arrived and found the trailer on the truck to be on fire. Police used an extinguisher in an effort to keep the fire contained. All units called in service with 225 Engine 1 arriving shortly after followed by 221 Engine 1 and 227 Engine 1 and crews found a fair amount of smoke and small fire showing. Crews pulled a 1" Booster Line from 225 Engine 1 and extinguished the small fire. It is believed that the trailer lost air pressure in the brake system causing the brakes to lock up and dragging the tires caused them to overheat, blow out and catch fire. Damage was very minimal, and the Power Crew was waiting for a wrecker to arrive to transport the trailer. All units returned in service.
