Residential Structure Fire - Harrison Township (11/25/05)

While participating in a Christmas Parade at the Heights Plaza, Citizens Hose Station 167, Hilltop Hose Station 168, and Harrison Hills Station 169 were dispatched around 10:30am to a residential structure fire on Olive Avenue in Harrison Township. Upon arrival, units found the basement of the structure fully involved. Pioneer Hose Station 112, Eureka Fire-Rescue Station 281, and Freeport Station 70 (Armstrong County) were also dispatched to the scene. Cold temperatures, ice, and snow caused pumps to freeze on the first responding engines. The house was a total loss. The fire is believed to have started in the basement. However, the Allegheny County Fire Marshal's Office was called to investigate. Crews were on scene for nearly 3 hours in sub-freezing temperatures. There were no reported injuries.
