Residential Structure Fire
- City of Jeannette (12/28/2006)
December 28, 2006 - A fire in the 500 Block of Patton Street
off 7th street caused heavy damage to the attic and second floor of a house late
morning. Several young people living at the residence smelt smoke and heard
popping noises and went to investigate to find the 2nd floor on fire.
Firefighters from City of Jeannette , Grapeville and North Irwin responded
quickly and did an excellent job knocking out the fire keeping it to the second
floor and stopping it from spreading to a home next door by covering it in a
blanket of foam. Luckily the weather was not bad because this fire could have
been much worse as it is on a steep street and a foot of snow and 4 degree temps
would have greatly impeded firefighters.
