Apartment Fire - Evans City (05/12/2007)
May 12th, 2007 - BUTLER CO, EVANS CITY, PA - At 0325 Evans
City Station 20, Harmony Station 23, Connoquenessing Station 12, Zelienople Station
22, and Harmony EMS Station 62 were dispatched to a structure fire at 125 East
Main St. Evans City Boro. Engine 20 was the first arriving unit and immediately
requested the 2nd alarm. The 2nd alarm consisted of Callery Station 19, Adams
Area Fire District Station 42, and Cranberry Station 21 for RIT.
The fire was
located in an occupied apartment above the Stone Soup Cafe. 4 occupants were
at home at the time of the fire and escaped, with 1 being transported as precaution.
On arrival fire was venting from 3 of the apartment windows and starting to vent
through the roof. An interior attack was made to quickly knock down the fire.
While the attack was underway first arriving truck company (Ladder 22) laddered
the building and conducted ventilation, and also conducted the primary search.
Stations 23 and 12 assumed the backup duties and Engine 23-2 set up a draft out
of a creek a few hundred yards from the fire building. The fire was knocked down
quickly and there was only water damage to the restaurant below.
