Residential Structure Fire - Coraopolis

June 10th , 2007 - Allegheny County, Coraopolis,
PA -- On Sunday afternoon (Station 127) Coraopolis VFD was dispatched to a residential
structure fire at 1028 First Avenue, below the railroad tracks in Coraopolis.
This was a 2 story, 4 unit row house. Firefighters were delayed responding from
the primary station because a train was blocking all crossings. One firefighter,
who was below the tracks at the time of the fire, was able to use 127 Truck 1
and 127 Engine 2 (from auxiliary station 2, below the tracks) to establish a
water supply, while 127 Engine 1 and 127 Engine 3 waited for the train. Prior
to the arrival of the fire department, two Coraopolis police officers saved 3
people (including an infant) form one of the adjacent row houses consumed by
smoke. Neville Island VFD (Station 205) was dispatched for assistance and Robinson
#1, Groveton VFD (Station 244) for their Air/Light Rescue.
