Residential Structure Fire - Coraopolis (06/10/2007)

June 10th , 2007 - Allegheny County, Coraopolis, PA -- On Sunday afternoon (Station 127) Coraopolis VFD was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 1028 First Avenue, below the railroad tracks in Coraopolis. This was a 2 story, 4 unit row house. Firefighters were delayed responding from the primary station because a train was blocking all crossings. One firefighter, who was below the tracks at the time of the fire, was able to use 127 Truck 1 and 127 Engine 2 (from auxiliary station 2, below the tracks) to establish a water supply, while 127 Engine 1 and 127 Engine 3 waited for the train. Prior to the arrival of the fire department, two Coraopolis police officers saved 3 people (including an infant) form one of the adjacent row houses consumed by smoke. Neville Island VFD (Station 205) was dispatched for assistance and Robinson #1, Groveton VFD (Station 244) for their Air/Light Rescue.
