July 13th, 2007 - Beach Bottom, Brooke County, WV -- On Friday July 13 at approximatly 5 am Brooke County 911 dispatched Beach Bottom (Station 9) Windsor Heights (Station 5), Brooke County Sheriff, and Brooke County EMS to a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries. First arriving unit was Brooke County Sheriff reported a two vehicle head on accident with confirmed entrapment. The accident was a head on collision with one vehicle in the middle of the road and one vehicle off the side of the road. The drivers of the cars were majorly entangled in their respective vehicles with major injuries. Extrication was begun immediatly on both vehicles with door removal, roof removal and on one car a dash push to extricate the patients. Wellsburg (Station 10) was dispatched to set up landing zones for two medical helicopters. Both patients were extricated in about 30 minutes and transported to the landing zone. one patient was taken directly to UPMC Pittsburgh and one went to OVMC in Wheeling West Virginia. Also assisting on scene was Bethany EMS (Station 20), and West Liberty EMS from Ohio County. The accident is currently under investigation by the Brooke County Sheriff's office.
