Motor Vehicle Accident w/ Entrapment -
Jackson Twp (08/16/2007)
August 16th, 2007 - Jackson Twp, Butler County,
PA -- On August 16 at 11:56 Harmony Station 23 and Harmony EMS Station 62 was
dispatched for a personal injury collision on Interstate 79 at the 88 mile marker
in the southbound lanes. Chief 23 arrived and advised incoming units that a tri
axle dump truck had rolled and that there was heavy entrapment. At that time
the closest avaiable helicopter was placed on standby. Engine 23-3 arrived along
with 62-2 and immediately went to work with an extensive extrication. The driver
was pinned to the floor, so crews removed the doors along with the roof to gain
access. Once those tasks were complete it was found that the drivers legs were
also pinned under the seat. Crews removed the passenger side seat and used the
spreaders to displace the drivers seat in order to disentangle his legs. STAT
Medevac landed on the interstate, and the extrication was complete in 35-40min.
