01/29/2005 - Lincoln - Vehicle Fire Endangering a Gas Well

West Smithfield Street

Station 184 Lincoln and Station 183 were dispatched for a vehicle fire endangering a gas well. Tanker 184 under the command of Chief 184 arrived on scene first and reported a fully involved pickup truck. Crews had to deal with a punctured gas line next to the burning truck blowing out natural gas. Once the flames were contained the gas line was able to be shutoff via a ball valve. The road was a dirt access road which was snow covered preventing the trucks to setup very close. Units on scene were Tanker 184, Engine 184, Engine 183, Rescue 183, Ambulance 610, and Lincoln PD.
