Clarion County Firefighter Dies Battling Blaze

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. — A northwestern Pennsylvania firefighter has died fighting a fire. Strattanville Volunteer Fire Co. Chief Bill Stroup said the 27-year-old firefighter complained to another firefighter of a headache then collapsed early Monday morning. The man, whose identity hasn’t been released, was pronounced dead at Clarion Hospital.An autopsy has been ordered. Stroup said it was the company’s first death in the line of duty in the department’s 71 years.Firefighters were battling a debris fire at the site of a recently demolished house in Strattanville, about 60 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.The exact cause of the firefighter’s death is unknown at this time. The final word is pending an autopsy.
