I am sad to report that another brother firefighter has lost his life doing what he loved. Click here for the full story. When I read the story for the first time, it reminded me of how important it is for all of us to make sure we have each others backs at all times. Please make sure that when two go in, two come out. We may never know, but it seems that this young man may still be with us today if that simple rule had been followed. May this brave young man rest in peace amd may we all learn a little something from his death.
Line Of Duty Deaths This Week.

It’s always sad to hear that a brother or sister firefighter has lost their life in the line of duty, but I think that by making more people aware of these events, it gives us the opportunity to reflect on our own firefighting and personal wellness practices. Hopefully by reading these articles, it will make us all be more careful not only on the fire scene, but on the way to and from as well. It also reminds us how important it is for us to stay in good physical and mental health. What we do is both physically and mentally draining at times and we can all use a little more exercise, even myself! So, as you read about these brave firefighters that gave their lives for their fellow citizens, let us reflect on everything that we do and try to make sure that everyone goes home when the job is done.

National Fire Safety Week!!!
October 1, 2008 by Nozzlenut · 2 Comments
Hey all!!! Next week, October 5-11, is National Fire Safety Week! There are a lot of really cool links on the home page for NFPA including links to free downloads of classroom materials for kindergarteners through 5th graders. A lot of this information can also be put to good use in the home, especially if you have small children as I do. Now that we are approaching the heating season, this is the perfect time to go over fire safety procedures with the kids. It seems like almost every day any more there is a local news story about another death due to a structure fire. Please take some extra time to recognize this very important week and help spread the word about fire safety.
