Digging Out
February 12, 2010 by FF184 · Leave a Comment
I would like to apologize for the lack of updates to the site over the past week. My first due area was heavily hit by the winter storms that rolled through. I was without power until Tuesday evening and we are still answering storm related calls.
Site updates will resume as soon as possible. Stay safe out there.

For those of you whom don’t like change, there is still an option on the bottom of the page to switch back to the regular view.
So for those of you with mobile devices, give it a try and let me know if you like it or not.

Happy New Year
January 10, 2010 by FF184 · Leave a Comment
Happy New Year to all the Hoopies out there. Sorry its been a while since anything has been added to the site. Things got busy and just snowballed from there during the late fall, and time was just not available to put towards the site. I thought I’d give a little update on things.
First, lets do a quick year in review. The site started slow last year and got rolling again. At the peak, the site hit an Alexa ranking of around 374,000 in September. For those of you unfamiliar with Alexa rankings, it is a site that ranks websites for popularity. The 374,000 indicated that Hoopie World was the 374,000th most popular site in the whole world, which isn’t too bad if you compare that to other firefighting related sites. We are currently around 600,000, which is expected due to the lack of updates to the site.
Hoopie World is also now on Facebook and has a Twitter account. Spread the word to your Facebook friends to become a fan and we’ll see how many we can get. The Twitter account allows us to “Tweet” our news stories and updates to those who follow us on Twitter.

Hoopie World Night is Wednesday, October 7th
October 7, 2009 by FF184 · Leave a Comment
I would like to invite everyone to the online Hoopie World night at 8pm eastern on Wednesday, October 7th. “Hoopie Night” was the idea of one of our regular visitors to have an online meet-n-greet and just hang out for a while. We are also going to try to break the record for most users online at one time on our forums.
The main meeting place will be in the forums at http://hoopieworld.com/boards. You don’t have to register to come, however you do need to be registered and login to use the shoutbox/chat feature. The plan is just to have some running threads and chat about current events, the site, or whatever we feel like it at the moment. I know the Pens are on, so I’ll be sure to have that on in the background.
I hope to see everyone online there, also there may be some giveaways (Hoopie Tshirts) so spread the word.
