Penn Hills Responds to Accident With Entrapment

On February 16th, 2010, Penn Hills stations 222 and 221 were alerted for an accident with entrapment on Nadine Road.  The crew cut out the windshield of the vehicle to free the operator.

Penn Hills Responds to Vehicle Accident with Vehicle on Fire

On Thursday, January 28th, Penn Hill responded to a motor vehicle collision with a vehicle on fire.  Here is the report from Station 225’s site:

Station 221,225,and 222 were alerted to Mt. Carmel @ Blackadore for a reprted Vehicle Accident with one Vehicle on Fire.. PHPD arrived updating units of a 2 Vehicle MVC with negative entrapment and one vehicle with a Good Engine compartment Fire.. 221 Sq Arrived and went to work, followed by 225 En. Command held the assignment to 221 and 225 returning 222. Units operated on scene for about 35 min with exstiguishment and clean up.

Unity VFC Responds to Motor Vehicle Accident

Unity VFC has posted an incident report and pictures from an accident on New Texas Road which occurred on Saturday, January 23rd, 2010.  Here is their report:

Stations 233,235 were dispatched around 12 noon for a Motor Vehicle with hazards on New Texas Rd. at Plum Creek Cemetary. 233 Rescue on scene with Plum Ems and PD. 233 Chief w/command. 1 vehicle MVA, pole sheared off with low wires, driver being checked out by Ems. 233 Rescue crew assisted with debris, roadway cleanup & traffic control. Stoodby until vehicle removed by tow. Scene turned over to Duquesne Light. 235 Engine cancelled enroute by command.

Ross Twp Accident With Entrapment

On Wednesday January 20th, 2010, crews responded to Union Avenue and Edies Way in Ross Twp for a 2 vehicle accident with entrapment.  Here is the report from Bellevue VFCs website

Around 1215 hrs. stations 249(Quaill), 108, 211(Ross/West View EMS) and 312 Rescue 40(Ross EMS Rescue) were dispatched to the area of Union Ave. and Edies Way in Ross township for a 2 vehicle accident with entrapment. En route, county updated units that they were receiving multiple calls all reporting entrapment. WIth 108 rescue less than 1 minute out, Bellevue police arrived on scene and confirmed 1 trapped. 108 Rescue and Squad were the first two units on scene and went to work on patient care and extrication. Rescue 40 and multiple Ross EMS units then arrived on scene and crews worked together to complete extrication. 249 Engine came on scene and stretched a trash line. Extrication was completed in about 10 minutes and the female was transported to the hospital.

Elizabeth Twp Motor Vehicle Overturned With Entrapment

On January 18th, 2010, Elizabeth Twp fire crews were dispatched for a vehicle accident with entrapment on Greenock-Buena Vista Road and Constitution Drive in the Greenock section of Elizabeth Twp.  Rescue 4 was first to arrive and updated the location to be Greenock-Buena Vista Road at Wexford Drive and reported one vehicle on its roof and one person pinned.  Rescue 4 initiated stabilization and made patient contact.  Rescue 7 arrived and deployed the JAWS and both crews worked on primary access and disentanglement.  The drivers side of the vehicle was removed and the female was successfully extricated in about 9 minutes.  Female was transported by EMS to a Pittsburgh trauma center with non life-threatening injuries.  Crews picked up and were back in service after 1 hour.

Coraopolis Responds to Vehicle Accident/Fire

On Saturday, September 26th, 2009, Coraopolis Volunteer Fire Department responded to the intersection of Montour Street and Grace Street for a motor vehicle accident.  The vehicle reportedly was on fire as well.  Crews responded and mitigated hazards.

Elizabeth Twp Vehicle Crash

On September 1st, at 00:48 Township Fire was diapcthed to the area of East Smithfield Street near Canterbury Drive for a vehicle on its roof. 140 Chief arrived on scene reporting a passanger vehicle on its roof in a driveway, no patients on scene. Rescues 4 and 7 continued to provide lighting and to control fluids. No patients were located in the nearby area by rescue personnel.

Here are your western PA firefighting and rescue headlines for Tuesday, September 1st, 2009.

  • Two people were flown from an accident in Leechburg, Armstrong county that occurred around 9pm last night. [WPXI]
  • Crews have resumed a search for a missing boater on the Yough river in Somerset County. [KDKA]

Deja Vu – Elizabeth Twp Responds to MVA at Same Location 2 Days in a Row

On Sunday, August 23rd, 2009, at 1742 hrs. Elizabeth Twp fire was sent, for the 2nd day in a row, to Round Hill Rd. @ Rt. 48 for the vehicle crash with injuries.  140 Asst. 3A arrived on location with a 2 vehicle crash with 3 injuries, no entrapment.   R7 arrived and established a traffic pattern, assisted EMS with patient care, and mitigated the hazards, crew from R3 assisted.  1 patient was transported, while the other 2 refused.  All vehicles were removed from the roadway, command was terminated, and all units cleared.

Fire Rescue Headlines: Arson, Mountain Bike Accident, Army Bus MVA

Here are your Western PA firefighting and rescue headlines for Monday, August 24th, 2009.

  • An army bus being driven to New Castle for repairs crashed into a truck carrying a crane on Route 422 in Slippery Rock Twp this morning.  The driver of the bus and a lone passenger were transported for non life threatening injuries.  The crane truck driver was uninjured. [WPXI]
  • A man from Maine died in a mountain biking accident yesterday in Brighton Twp, Beaver county. [WPXI]
  • Yet another suspicious fire in New Castle.  This time, the house that was picked was one that was already set on fire earlier this month. [WPXI]
  • And finally, a woman was arrested for torching a house in Commodore, Indiana county after having a fight with her boyfriend. [WPXI]
